ONLINE RESOURCES
Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is part of the presidential library system administered by the National Archives. This is the major source of primary documents on Ronald Reagan and has a vast amount of material online, particularly from the beginning of his presidency until April 1986. There is a chronological listing of documents as well as a search engine.

The library’s other resources, including videos of speeches, White House exit interviews, lists of photographs and a variety of facts from Reagan’s personal life and the presidency. This site also links to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.

Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation

The mission of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is to complete President Reagan’s unfinished work and to promote the timeless principles that he championed: individual liberty, economic opportunity, global democracy, and national pride.

The website discusses the museum’s holdings and gives a sample of its exhibits. There is also a gift shop and requests for donations. It is more of an advertisement than a source for information; however, it is still important to include our close friends at the Reagan Foundation.

This site also contains copies of handwritten notes by Reagan.

Ronald Reagan Legacy Project

The Reagan Legacy Project was formed in 1997 as a project of Americans for Tax Reform, a national taxpayer advocacy organization, itself started in 1986 to promote President Reagan’s historic Tax Reform Act of that year. Grover Norquist heads this project.

The mission of the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project is to honor the legacy of our 40th president, Ronald Reagan. The Reagan Legacy Project aims to fulfill its mission by naming significant public landmarks after President Reagan in the 50 states and over 3,000 counties of the United States, as well as in formerly communist countries across the world.
This website has several of Reagan’s speeches and plans to have several photos. It also includes current dedications to Reagan as well as state and national legislation concerning his legacy.

The Reagan Ranch

Young America’s Foundation’s Reagan Ranch Program will teach new generations of students about Reagan’s leadership and enduring legacy. Dedicated to the principles of freedom, limited government, and respect for traditional American values like patriotism, courage and personal responsibility, Young America’s Foundation believes that it is Reagan’s dedication to precisely these principles that made him one of the greatest presidents in our nation’s history.
The website itself has a nice virtual tour of Rancho del Cielo as well as a great deal of information about Reagan’s beloved ranch. Additionally, there is a small tribute page to Reagan.

White House

This is the official White House page about Ronald Reagan. It contains a brief biography of Ronald Reagan and of Nancy Reagan

Ronald W. Reagan – Presidential Library and Museum Bookstore

This is part of the main Library and Foundation located in Simi Valley, California. See above for links to the Library and Foundation. While this site does not contain a good deal of pertinent information, it is useful to inform people about holdings of the Presidential Library and Museum.

The American President Website

According to the website, this is a dramatically enhanced version of the existing AmericanPresident.org website. It is developed and maintained by the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia the nation’s leading research institute for the study of the American presidency. Launched originally in 2000 as the online companion to “The American President” — the six-part PBS television series produced by Kunhardt Productions — AmericanPresident.org is now an even more engaging and informative resource on the history of the presidency and the nature of contemporary policymaking. There is a good deal of basic info about Reagan and his life as well as the major events and themes of his presidency.
